Since being admitted in 1979, Russell has had extensive commercial litigation experience in all the major Courts in Victoria as well as New South Wales, South Australia and Tasmania. Russell has also appeared in the Federal Courts and the High Court of Australia.

Russell’s expertise include:
  • Insurance claims including professional indemnity, product and public liability; motor vehicle; fire, theft and water damage.
  • Credit disputes — Russell was involved in the introduction of the Australian Consumer Credit Code and was apointed by the Commonwealth government as an Expert to the Consumer Credit panel.
  • Horticultural and Agricultural disputes — Russell was involved in the introduction of the original Horticultural Code into Australia.
  • Wine industry disputes — Russell developed the Australian Wine Grapegrowers’ Code for the Australian Wine Industry.
  • Franchising disputes.
  • Australian Consumer Law, including actions relating to misleading and deceptive conduct and unconscionable conduct.
  • General debt collection and enforcement action including bankruptcy and insolvency.
  • Privacy Act disputes.
