Marshalls and Dent hosted a discussion-based luncheon for members of the legal community, chaired by the Honourable Raymond Finkelstein QC.

Described by the media as “the judge who set the pace for the law”, His Honour has held a number of prestigious positions in the law including Solicitor-General for Victoria, President of the Australian Competition Tribunal and Judge of the Federal Court of Australia.

During his discourse, the  Honourable Raymond Finkelstein QC considered the role of punishment in the law. He challenged the distinction commonly drawn between “true crimes”, such as burglary versus “white collar crimes” such as insider trading. His Honour expressed concern regarding the differential treatment of these types of crimes when it comes to prosecution and sentencing and recommended various reforms.

Marshalls and Dent thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to host this event and extends warm thanks to the Honourable Raymond Finkelstein QC.
