David Gulpilil Ridjimiraril Dalaithngu AM was from the Mandhalpingu clan of the Yolŋu people. A remarkable actor, dancer, painter and singer, David Gulpilil Ridjimiraril Dalaithngu shared his prodigious talents, stories and First Nations languages both with Australian and international audiences. His work has forever shaped the history of Australian cinema.

MDW is honoured to have been associated with David Gulpilil Ridjimiraril Dalaithngu, having worked on legals for films in which he was featured including The Tracker, Charlie’s Country, Ten Canoes and The Proposition. Most recently, MDW was thankful for the opportunity to work on My Name is Gulpilil, the documentary film released earlier in 2021 which celebrated David Gulpilil Ridjimiraril Dalaithngu’s contribution to Australian cinema through use of his own candid and intimate recollections and reflections on his life.
